All through the south of our country the weather is a hot than cold all in one week. Its important in-between seasons to have those key pieces in your wardrobe that cannot only help you transition into each season but remain a season all season. This blazer is one of those pieces for me….or it’s going to be. Like the pictures Doctors use to ask in psychiatric screenings “What do you see?”, I like to ask my friends what they see in the print of this blazer when I wear this. I’m a walking billboard for all the psychiatrists in the world. Some say an exotic wood, other say a lava lamp, either way it’s a multi seasonal conversation piece and this I like. Dress it up with a great pair of classic black slacks or pair it with a black v neck and a bold colored pant. This silhouette would also serve as a great holiday soiree style. Denim, a button down with a great fitted blazer and you can’t go wrong! Speaking of holiday soirees, I was recently recognized by D Magazine Style Sheet for my Holiday style! I love the style sheet so it was a dream come true to be featured on the home page for a few days! Check that out HERE!
One thing I have always known about myself to be true is that I am willing to pay for conveince. It’s not my best trait but living in a big city with a fast pace lifestyle can drown your patience and quickly. That being said I have never been a big outlet shopper, not because I don’t want to or know how to but because I hate digging. I especially hate digging through mens designer left overs. One Robert Graham shirt after another Vince $8o T-Shirt. So. Boring. However I recently went to a blogger event at an outlet mall that set my inner deal hunter on fire. If women could have all these gorgeous designer clothes at outlet prices why couldn’t I?! Again…..one Robert Graham shirt after the next.
I set out to Nordstrom Rack since I have had some pretty positive experiences there with my mom and friends. I decided to go alone so I could only focus on me. I was immediately disappointed as I noticed the mens racks features a flashy 70% off sign with brand logos on it such as Robert Graham and Vince. Here we go again. I was nearing the end of my size rack when I spotted this gorgeous burgundy coat, I quickly snatched and noticed it was John Varvatos! Score! It was my size. Score! It was a cashmere, oxblood, John Varvatos coat for 99$!?! A coat that easily cost $500 at retail. It’s Mine. I’m happy to be wearing said coat in todays outfit post! I’m a little disappointed it photographed more brown than oxblood but its so soft and beautiful in person, I’m willing to make it work. Moral of the story is that there are treasures to be found and if you’re not looking for them you just may miss out! With the holidays officially here it can be exhausting finding outfits for it all. I find it best to keep it classy and sassy for family events. Lets get real, in 20 years you’re going to regret wearing something super flashy or trendy, you want your grandkids to say you were timelessly dapper. A phrase I only like to refer to myself as during the holidays. A nice dress shirt, a great blazer or coat is an easy way for your grandma to think you have your shit together. If your strapped for cash or just loving finding a great deal The Rack is a great place to get more look for less. Get to know your local Nordstrom Racks as they all get different shipments from different stores and remember to always hit that clearance rack first because a lot of times ‘ the first place a one of a kind rack item will go. This week for Black Friday Nordstrom Rack will have a whopping 30% off all clearance merchandise which is already 60-70% off retail! What a steal! Cant wait to see what goodies you will find!
